Here are some frequently asked questions about the Content Workflow Sitecore integration. If you have any other questions please get in touch.

Who should set up the integration?

We'd advise that the integration is set up by a technical Sitecore user, working closely with the people who set up the Templates in Content Workflow.

Can I map a Content Workflow Template to multiple Sitecore templates?

You certainly can. Here's our help article on how to set up your mappings.

Can I map multiple Content Workflow fields to a single field in Sitecore?

The plug-in supports many-to-one field mappings for text and guideline field types. It means, that it is possible to map, for example, two Content Workflow fields into one Sitecore field. The content of such fields will be concatenated and placed in the Sitecore field.

Please check the supported field types in our help documentation that shows all the supported field mappings.

How many times do I need to install the module?

The module needs to be installed once per environment.

Does the integration work with the Experience Editor?

Yes! The Experience Editor has been extended with a Content Workflow ribbon, so an import can be actioned directly from the Experience Editor.

How do the integrations work with the Sitecore workflow?

Every time the content is imported to Sitecore, a new version of an item is created, which resets any workflow to its initial state. However, using the update feature does not create a new version of an item. It means that the item workflow state stays untouched.

Does the integration support custom fields?

We don't yet support custom fields at the moment. We intend to support them in the future.

Please check the supported field types in our help article which shows all the supported field mappings.

Can you import the general link content from Content Workflow to Sitecore?

We don't support mapping to Sitecore general link fields. Links can be imported from Content Workflow if they're included in the rich text field.

Does the integration support Sitecore Droplink?

We don't yet support Sitecore Droplink at the moment. We intend to support this in the future.

Please check the supported field types in our help article which shows all the supported field mappings.

Does the integration work with item buckets?

Unfortunately, Content Workflow integration does not support item buckets at the moment. We'll be looking into this in the future.

Does the integration work with Sitecore tagging?

The Integration does not interact with the Sitecore Content Tagging system. All necessary tags can be set manually after an import. Further updates will not affect already defined tags.

Does the integration support branch templates?

Unfortunately, Content Workflow integration does not support branch templates at the moment. We'll be looking into this in the future.

Does the integration work with Sitecore 9 Helix principles?

Yes, you can still use the Content Workflow integration with the Helix principles in Sitecore 9.
